SBJN serves over 500 people per year with education, support and mutual aid services. We are proud of our Mobile Midwife Clinic’s outcomes, which reflect increased visibility, trust and evidence of commitment to improving maternal and infant health.

Since January 2023, when we launched Mobile Midwife Clinic, our key focus areas have involved:

  • Access to free and low-cost midwifery and doula care.
  • Educating expectant families about their birth rights, especially in navigating hospitals.
  • Developing a community hub linking clients to necessary care.
  • Providing wrap-around services, including addressing barriers.
  • Implementing our model “Black Midwives Care” in our clinical settings
  • Training over 350 providers, students and other allied professionals in Birth Justice.
  • Collaborating with community-based organizations to maximize service provision.
  • Purchased and branded our RV to be outfitted as our Mobile Midwife Clinic.
  • Participation in events with midwives and doulas on site for walk-in care.
  • Training 48 Birth Justice Doulas and 18 Midwifery Assistants.

Our visionary leader, Jamarah Amani has received the following awards:
